DJ Roomba

I want one!

Fashion Studio

I just discovered H&M's fashion studio website... So fun to play around on

http://www.hm.com/ca/fashion/fashionstudio__fashionstudio.nhtml

Not an overly eventful weekend... I drove in to Brandon to pick up some things (cheese in particular... and yam tempura rolls). I also stopped in to Fabricland and found a sweet floral flannel remnant... I'm thinking i'll either make some comft pj's out of it or a few pillow cases. I've been using an old Alf pillowcase for a few years now, and it might be time to upgrade.

Yum yum yum!

Oh Alf...

And a little something extra:

I saved this picture a long time ago because I loved this girl's curly hair, but I also love this picture because it makes me think of summertime beach parties and campfires...

Latest Creation

I wasn't up to much last night, so I decided on a whim to make a little something that was quick... This is my end result:

A big bow headband! I made it out of a nice beige satin that I got for next to nothing out of the bargain bin at fabricland.. I had tried a while ago to make a tiered skirt out of it, but there was actually a fair bit of damage to the fabric itself (explains why it was in the bargain bin...) so it was unusable. Luckily i finally figured out something to do with the scraps!

Sequins, Studs, Tights

I few things that I really love as far as fashion goes:

Inspired

Despite living in the pretty much the smallest town in existence (it is within a national park, so pretty much 99% of the population is strictly summer residents), I had a fairly social and productive weekend. I spend several hours on skype with my best friend Heather (Michelle and Jess were visiting here, so i go to chat with them too!), and after having stared at my pile of fabric over the past two weeks, I have finally been inspired to start new projects. I got started on a skirt this evening that is a belated Christmas present for Heather, and am excited to have plenty of sewing on the horizon to keep me busy.

The pattern for Heather's skirt

I've gotten the pockets done so far, and have the pleating at the front pinned back

I'm still stumped as to what to do with two of my other fabrics... they both have a big colourful pattern, so I don't want to make anything overwhelming.

Spring Shopping List

I've been dying to do some shopping lately... I'm living in rural Manitoba right now so there isn't much around in the way of clothes shops, and Winnipeg is a bit out of the way. So i'll just have to wait. But here are some of the things on my spring wish list (by which I mean things I really want to buy myself):

Straw fedora from UO

Mineral wash natural denim runner short from American Apparel

Unisex sailor stripe long sleeve pullover from American Apparel

Lace one piece from American Apparel

Yes, I realize that's mostly American Apparel... what can I say I love that store. Some other things I'd like that I don't have images of: loose black tank top, gladiator sandals, maroon opaque tights, a pair of black ultra high mary-jane platform heels, and some new summer basics in general.

I also want to try out Bumble and Bumble's thickening serum... I'm intrigued. Really though, I'll try anything to make my fine hair seem thicker.

Anyways, even though the sun hid behind the clouds today and we even got a bit of snow, I've had summer on my mind pretty much constantly. I'd like to get a cute vintage cruiser bike with a wicker basket and bike all around town this summer.

The beginning

First posting! This blog is just a place where I will be posting images, thoughts, links, etc., of things that I enjoy! I'm and environmental studies student at UW, so one of the things I'm most passionate about is the environment, but other than that I love fashion, clothes, cooking, decorating. One of my favourite hobbies is sewing, and from time to time I'm sure I'll be posting pictures of some of my creations. I mostly only make clothing items for myself and as gifts to friends, but I'm hoping that someday I'll be able to get an etsy shop up and running.

I'm looking forward to getting this blog going... more to come soon!

I can feel spring coming! I am so excited
